Everyone utilizes a mix of these ‘clear senses’ to receive and witness extra-sensory messages. Very rarely is anyone “just clairvoyant” or “just a medium”.
I’ve personally only met people who utilize a mix of clairs. Most, if not all, extra-sensory perceptions I’ve observed tend to develop through a natural survival or developmental need in childhood, and sometimes, it’s adaptations in later life.
🔊 Clairaudience
‘Clear hearing’ - Perceiving sounds, voices, or messages that aren’t audible to others. This might include hearing guidance from spirit, subtle inner voices, or energetic frequencies.
🧠 Claircognizance
‘Clear knowing’ - Sudden, intuitive knowledge or insight that comes without logical explanation. Often felt as an inner certainty or a nervous system "ping" — the instinctive part of our motor senses reacting before the mind catches up.
👁️ Clairvoyance
‘Clear seeing’ - Receiving intuitive information through visual imagery in the mind’s eye. These can be symbols, scenes, or flashes of insight that appear like daydreams or inner visions.
💓 Clairsentience
‘Clear feeling’ - Sensing energy or information through the emotional or physical body. This doesn’t just mean picking up others’ emotions — it can also be bodily sensations tied to people, places, or events. Think of it as using your “emotional body map” to read energetic data.
✋ Clairtangency (includes Psychometry)
‘Clear touch’ - Perceiving energy or information through touch. This can involve touching an object or space and receiving intuitive impressions about its history, owner, or emotional residue — or feeling an unseen presence make contact with your skin.
👃 Clairsalience
‘Clear smell’ - Smelling scents that aren’t physically present — like perfume, smoke, or flowers — which often have symbolic or spiritual significance.
👅 Clairgustance
‘Clear taste’ - Experiencing tastes that have no physical source. This may be connected to spirit communication (e.g., tasting tobacco or a favorite food of a passed loved one) or symbolic messages. Some practitioners report tasting metal (like iron) when a person is iron-deficient, or experiencing a bitter or acidic taste linked to liver imbalances or gut issues.
